Hemme Battjes new Dean of the Faculty of Law
The Executive Board is pleased to announce that as of January the 1st, 2020, Prof.mr.dr. Hemme Battjes will become Dean of the Faculty of Law. He is succeeding prof.mr.dr. Willem Bouwens, who will return to his academic duties in his field of expertise, with effect of 1st September 2019. From the 1st of September 2019, to the 1st of January 2020, Prof.dr. Edward Kleemans, currently vice-Dean, will perform as acting Dean.

Hemme Battjes has been professor of Migration Law at this faculty for some time now. The Executive Board and the faculty are convinced that Hemme Battjes will be a visionary, highly committed Dean, with wide managerial experience. Together with the faculty community and his ability to connect he will fulfil the ambitions of the faculty as a whole.
Battjes: "Our faculty provides great education as well as great research”. In recent years, there have been wonderful initiatives to innovate both aspects. I am proud to be able to contribute to these achievements in the upcoming years.
