Subsidiary subjects and minors

A subsidiary subject is a course that’s open to enrolment from students from other faculties or universities. It is also possible for VU Amsterdam students to follow a subsidiary subject at another faculty or university.

It is possible to follow subsidiary subjects or courses from the Bachelor’s programme Rechtsgeleerdheid (‘Legal Studies’) or Criminologie (‘Criminology’).

Minors consist of no more than 30 EC, and are taken alongside a student’s main course of study.

The Faculty of Law offers the minors Law and Global Society, and Technology, Law and Ethics to (former) VU Amsterdam students and students from other higher education institutions. See the Minor programmes website for all VU Amsterdam minors.
