Curriculum vitae
Vincent Geeraets is since 2012 lecturer at the department of Legal Theory and Legal History VU Amsterdam. Geeraets studied law and philosophy at the University of Groningen. After finishing law school, he started – again in Groningen – a phd research under supervision of A.R. Mackor and W. van der Burg. In 2011 Geeraets successfully defended his thesis called A Neutral Conception of Punishment.

Research activities
Geeraets conducts research in the programme Boundaries of Law. His research is concerned with philosophical issues related to criminal law, such as the analysis of the concept of punishment and the justification of punishment. Presently Geeraets’ research is focused on restorative justice.
