Hjalmar studied Dutch Civil Notarial Law at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. During his college years he did have multiple ancillary activities. These activities included multiple jobs as a student assistant and, a board membership at V.I.V.A. the notarial faculty association at the Vrije Universiteit. He also did an internship at the notarial civil law department of Loyens & Loeff, Rotterdam office. Currently Hjalmar is working on his PhD.
Hjalmar conducts research in the programme ‘Social organizations, companies and the law’.
The research activities that Hjalmar is concerned with are linked to the ‘Zuidas institute for financial law and company law’.
The research topic is about the different legal entities that can be used to create ‘target capital’. These entities find their basis in company law, property law and contract law. The research is about to find out the differences and similarities between the legal entities. The research goal of the study is to describe how target capital can be best structured under Dutch law. To achieve this goal, a comparative study between different legal entities, from different jurisdictions will be done.
