Elsemiek Deug (1988) studied criminal law at Tilburg University and graduated cum laude in August 2014. Her thesis is rated with an A. She also recived ‘The Jan van Dijk Victimology and Victims' Rights Award’ for her thesis in October 2015. Elsemiek is currently working at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam as a PhD-student since September 2015 (Faculty of Law and Criminology)
Elsemiek conducts research in the programme 'Empirical and Normative Studies'. Her research is about fact-finding in Dutch criminal procedure through scenario theory.
