- PhD Candidate
After a BSc in Psychology and a BSc in criminology at the VU University, Annika van Baar graduated as an MA in Holocaust and Genocide Studies at the University of Amsterdam in 2010. One year later she finished the International Crimes and Criminology MSc master at the VU university (cum laude). She has worked at the criminology department at the faculty of law as a student-assistant and junior-researcher since 2007. In 2009-2011 she was also a lecturer in statistics and methodology at the psychology and pedagogy faculty at the VU University. She is now a PhD Candidate working on a project on corporate involvement in international crimes.

Corporations and international crimes
As a result of Annika’s expertise in international crimes and the cooperation with Wim Huisman, Annika became involved in a research project about corporations involved in international crimes in an early stage. In September 2012 she started as a PhD candidate. Her research activities are focused on various forms of corporate involvement in various forms of international crimes such as genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes, serious human rights abuses and gross human rights violations.
International crimes (genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes), corporate crime, white-collar crime, corporate involvement in international crimes, history of the Holocaust, the conflict in former Yugoslavia, (mainly Bosnia), statistics, research methodology.
